Was cutting 15" ash today with 2 of them. Tit for tat. 590 has torque advantage.

Has a long stroke compared to 32mm poulan and 34mm efco.

Month or 2 ago ---------------------------------------------

Before the efco came along we ran a 60cc test session with same chains new from box. 2 380's, 362 OE, 361 afm, 357 and others.

So, an update on that Craftsman (Poulan 2000) I bought last week, mentioned a few pages back...

Crank seals from @Acornhill went in without issue. Recoil spring as well. Thanks dude. New fuel line and filters came with the carb rebuild kit from Amazon, but I didn't jump into the carb right away. I figured I would take a chance that the carb is fine. I installed the new fuel line and filter, hooked it up and gave it a whirl. It cranked over, and with some minor carb adjustment, it runs wonderfully. I also did a muffler mod.

Now I'm waiting for the new spur/drum and I need to get a bar for it. I'm going to go 12" with safety chain due to the fact that this could be (and more likely than not) run 1 handed.

only numbers they gave me is what i meant...it looks like it will work ...only one way to find out...
well got the bar today on a Holiday nice job usps....only one way to find out... 10 bux shipped makes it six buxs i take that all day every day.....love flat rate....40610542_10213829353351499_6300291950318714880_n.jpg

It fits but i dont think your normal 45 links for a 12 inch bar would be right you can see with a brand new chain its at the half way point... However to sit on a shelf and look pretty be just peachy....for ten bux..shipped.... grabbed a saw ive had sitting with no bar and a bad piston.....I tried to clean it and put it over my desk in the house but momma drew a line at the back door......I told it was a rustic look... LOL

I think the 3000 is a 3.4 . Here are the 3700 , 3000, and 3400 side by side . This was covered several pages back this summer.

Sears actually did sell a 3400, as a 3.0, 49cc.

Here's the Sears PN
358356081 CRAFTSMAN CHAINSAW

The manual is attached

Check the spec's on page 2 and the bar in the pic of the saw. I remember MMark talking about these a few years ago
.

Mark would be one of the few that would Know.....I have to admit everytime i think i have it down i will see a different variant on ebay in the middle of the night.. like s23pp or the 236 pp190 ... also dayton versions ridgid craftsman wright etc....So maybe there was a countervibe that was a 3000 if so i eat my hat... in the over ten years i have gotten into them i have not seen one....or maybe i have? the grey craftsmans are hard to tell... i thought the ones with that toggle were not made in a counter vibe style....only with the toggle on the handle ....

358.360260
WAG cylinder and piston shows fitting 1950 1975 2050 2150 222 2375 etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

The Sears owner's manual says 36cc. Not sure if that whole litany of saw models shared cylinder but not crank or what.

The EPA tends to lump displacements.

For the new guys that don't know, the 50, 125 or 300 hour durability refers to how long the saw will retain it's emissions in spec. After that, who knows unless someones's been adjusting the carb.

Mark's a busy man. Lots of weird stuff out there in saws.

I have a coupleof Canadian Poulan 3400's that are actually 3700's.
That's what happens when out of country operations get away from the mother ship.

Check out the label 3400, 61 cm3DSCF3213.JPG

Na that's no fun, we need to speak our mind even if we lost it years ago . Keep up the good work stub
thank you... was it you that was looking for a walbro carb?389 or 309? i have a box of small carbs from saws that had burned up pistons etc over the years....either micro's or s25 series what one were you trying to find?

Picked up a craftsman 358.354810 for rebuild. Looks like poulan 3400 series. Wondering does anyone knoe for sure what engine size is? Anyone got an owners manual?

That number shows up on searspartsdirect. No manual listed and the rings indicate it's a 3400 but the cylinder and piston numbers show as any Poulan part numbers even with the 5300 added as a prefix.

You can check the bore to be sure.

3400 1.810"
3700 1.875
3800 1.880
