I got a poulan 361 saw a while back. The previous owner said he took the advice of the Stihl dealer and ran it at 50:1 with stihl oil. I wonder if has something to do with the failure. Also I can’t seem to find a Allen wrench the right size to fit the bolts on the connecting rod.

@brandonstc6

I have the somewhat picked over carcass of a Dayton 2Z461 (rebagged 361) that FarmerSteve gave to me for whatever I could use off of it while I was rebuilding the Dayton bagged 245. I ended up using some of the bolts from it (#12-24 bolts are not as popular as they once were). Looking through the exhaust port, I think the jug is in decent shape.

It's yours if you want it - just cover the cost of the ride from 17402.

That is a very generous offer, but I have a new top end kit for the 361. If a 361 and a 306a share a top end, I probably could use it for my 306a build. Thanks

Drop me a PM if you want it.
The 361 and 306 share the slug. I think the jug is a different part number (though a 361 jug may fit and run just fine on a 306 - I don't know).

@ Todd . We just made a run of 3/8-24 bolts with a small head. They are a good match for your duckbill replacements . Soft 10/18 steel . Want a couple dozen ?

I cant believe it ran that long. Chrome flake diet?

On my poulan 361, it has no up and down play but I can rock the rod. Should I replace the needles? Also I don’t remember which way the cap went on the rod, does it matter?

A buddy at work has a basically brand new sears branded Poulan 3400, painted red. He has been using it for about a year off and on. It started leaking gas like crazy so I told him let me look at it. The problem is there is a second hole in the top of the fuel tank near where the gas line exits. I am sure the other hole is the vent but missing parts. Is there is supposed to be duckbill or just a piece of fuel line that would come up into the carb area? I am sure one of you gurus here know the answer right off the top of your head.

Thanks for any tips!
