No I don't have a 2900, I got a 2500 which is the same saw just 40cc. Its a pretty good saw and is a plated cyl modle and I'm betting the 2900 is also.

There like a Poulan pro 295. With a muffler mod and carb tune there a pretty good saw with a 16" .325 setup on them.

Started working on the Ridgid/306 tonight and what I thought was going to be a simple bring back to life turned into major surgery..

What else is new huh?

Seems I found where the bar oil was leaking from. Some ####wad put the bar on sometime and didnt fit the adjuster pin in the adjuster hole in the bar and ended up driving the pin through the side of the oil tank.

To make matters worse they tried a JB weld repair from the outside. I could just change oil tanks but then it would not be silver like it should be, so its a nice thing that the Poulan oil tanks are 2 pieced and come apart really easy.

The broken off piece was floating in the tank, so after some cleaning I can JB weld it back in from the back side!

Took a couple pictures but will wait till its all fixed in the next few days to post them.

nope, will last forever.

I have also used the radiator/gas tank repair epoxy ribbon from the dollar store with good results on everything from radiators to circular saw handles...

Good deal..I hate to go buy a gas tank for a saw I'll probably not use much, it's a Mac 1-42. I don't think I have the energy to use it much.

The ribbon stuff is very cool it is like modeling clay...as long as the surface is clean it is great and easy to mold and sand into the exact shape needed.

JB is probably better but it tends to run and is more difficult to handle.

remember...better living through chemistry...

I bought some of the ribbon stuff years ago and never needed it until about a month ago. When I started to use it, it was hard as a rock. I guess if you get some of that you need to use it within 15 years.

So, just picked up a third chainsaw, it is a model 358.41526 - 2.3 / 16"
Guy wanted 60.00CDN paid him 45.00 now I am curious who made this saw, it is a white color, I only knew of red like my old 70's craftsman/poulan anyway, put gas in fires right up, seems to run good, but as it is night here I could not run it too long and so could not do any cutting.
Meant to take a picture as the bottom is not scratched at all, so it saw little use I would say, or the fellow never put it down much.
Anyway, anyone know if this Craftsman is also a poulan or not?

Right you are. I'd also check the metering side as it goes, cover, diaphragm , and gasket or exactly opposite the pump side. Maybe he switched that around as well.

The metering side was correct. I did put in a new gasket and diaphragm though. Had the whole thing apart... might as well replace everything while the carb was off.

Now all I need is a new duck valve for the gas cap.

What fuel mixture do people run in their 245As? I have read 16:1 under the air filter cover, but then I hear people saying the gas and oil of today is better than yester-year. Curious to know what you guy are running in your saws.

I use Woodland Pro synthetic oil mixed at 40:1 / 93oct. in all my saws, new and old. Including the 245A. :)
