Hmmmm. Leaves are big - about 8" across. There are some little nuts in the last pic - sorry, that's the best shot I could get with the phone.

Thought it was some kind of Catalpa ( or catobby as we say it here ) until I saw the nuts. Catalpa has bean pods and the bark is usually a little rougher.
 
Yep... paulownia or Princess Tree. The leaves are similar in shape and size to the catalpa.

When I lived in VA, locals called it coffee-wood. Old growth logs fetched high prices, they went to Japan where they were used to make musical instruments.
