Nut identification - recommend a website?

The sulphur yellow buds are unmistakeable and yes they are there this time of year. The only time it would be difficult to see is in the spring right at bud break.
 
My Dirr book lists the Bitternut as having the sulphur yellow buds??? Says that the Mockernut is much rarer further North and has a thinner bark. The leaves are also wider. I looked at a couple of those sites and am pretty convinced it's a Pignut/Smooth hickory.
