I found the results on the other saw site that Derek, Brad, & a few others belong to. Looks like they had a good turnout & a great time.
I'm banned over there, so have no idea what went down.

Brad, how did your saws fare?

Ian

I didn't go. I know I had at least one saw there. J Walker's 238SE with the ported 242 topend was supposed to be there. Unfortunately, 42cc puts it out of the 0-40cc class, and doubt it could win in a 50cc saw class. It's a fast strong runner for sure though. Just a kind of in between size saw. I would love to have seen how my ported 372BB, 346, and then the 359 I did yesterday would have compared. The 359 I did for Grapple Man turns 15,500 without having rasied the exhaust at all. It's a very strong runner.

There a reason why that word is blocked here. Many of the members are former members of AS that have been banned here. And don't believe everything you read over there. Lots of petty egos that'll do anything to protect themselves.

:agree2: Yup... there is a lot of saw building knowledge over there too, but unfortunately you have to wade the muck to get to it.

The GTG was super. Nice weather, good cants, a nasty big cottonwood and wicked fast saws. I warned ya guys not to miss it....:)

Brad, your J Walker 238 with the 242 top end was a nice saw. It seemed like a 50cc saw in a small saw body. I also ran some similar saws in the 40cc area and they all ran nice. Every time I cut with a stock 200t/020t, they just amaze me with there power. Take out the baffle and those things just rip. I also ran EC's stock redmax 3800 with the crappy stock oregon chain. I thought that saw cut pretty good for stock. Hopefully Eric ports it sometime, I bet it would be a true monster. Looking at the cut times, never underestimate a poulan!!!

As for modded saws, the ones there were fast!!!! The 3 cube class was crazy fast.....and these saws had no problem lacing up a 24" bar and attacking the big cottonwood either. These saws were built strong no matter what, either for time cuts or with a long bar, they flat hauled.

The 576 was a very nice saw. Lots of torque and just felt good. I think Husky did their homework on the 576 and delivered a winner. There was a modded 441 and a modded 460 by the same guy. The 460 handed the 441 its butt. Both spotting a 32" bar. If you wanted a modded 70cc saw, a 460 is the way to go...or a 371. Stock, I would go with a 460, 576 or a 7900.

I learned a bunch of stuff at the GTG. It was very nice to hear some good saw conversion with some of the fastest guys out there. Also had a stihl tech stop by from the dealer M&M in Ashland. He knew his stuff....so any of you guys in Central Ohio needing a stihl dealer, this guy would be a wise choice.

The biggest thing I learned all day was attention to detail. Chains, porting, operator. Everything is need for a good time and strong performance, whether in the woods or at the races. No saw is the same and porting should be well thought out and taken slowly. If you take the extra time, the results should show your extra time paying off.

Good post Andy. Glad you had a good time. It definately has to all come together to cut a good time.

I'd say that 441 did very well considering what it went up against. Impressive!!

Looks like they had a great time, wish I was closer.

Yup, but after hearing good reports on the 576, I'd skip the 372/375 and get the 576, "if" I were to invest in a husky. I just got a 441 so I don't see that happening.:D

I don't want to burst a bubble, but that 046 weasel has is far faster than the 441. Especially when the big bars come out. The 441 is still a nice saw though.

The 375's were good, just need to know how to massage them. J Walker's stock 575 was strong too. Look at the times, just a second off his ported 375.

No bubble bursting here:), I know the 440/460 type saws take mods better. All of 'em were quick!

Hahaha, I remember when Brad got banned here too. He must have an ornery side to him. lol Just kidding with ya Brad.

That I did:) For all of 8 hours. Funny thing of it is, the guys over there say I was over there to learn and bring it back over here with the purpose of looking like a big shot or something. I was actually sending someone over there for some info about building a saw when I was banned. I try to give credit where credit is due. I certainly didn't invent this wheel. But those guys just continue to prove my points. They are what they are.

:agree2:

It would have been nice to go up there, but I really didn't have the time, and after all the BS some of them spewed out I had to pass on that gtg. I'm sure my 372/7900, and Brads saws would have done just fine as always.

Glad you had a good time Andrew, that's what it's all about.
