Oiler/Dolmar/Low output?

On my Makita DCS 520i (same as Dolmar 111i), I have my oil adjustment screw turned counterclockwise as much as possible (about a quarter turn travel allowed). This should increase the oil output for bar and chain lubrication. Should I see a heavy amount of oil on the bar and chain? I finished cutting up the bulk of a big pine this afternoon and I had trouble seeing any oil along the chain and bar. In acceleration with the nose of the bar aimed at a surface, I see very little sign of oil being slung. My chain and bar do not seem to smoke from over heating and they show no signs of burning. I used a tank of fuel this afternoon and it consumed a tank of oil along with that tank of fuel. As a matter of fact I can't see any of my red dyed oil on the chain but due to the fact that the parts don't seem to be overheating and it consumes a tank of oil per tank of fuel do you think that it is functioning properly and I just need glasses?

Drip & Spatter as High Art

I guess I'm just worrying over nothing. Probably the Bio-Oil, Olive, just congealed slightly with these cooler temps. I guess I just need to run it harder and longer to get that veggie oil to liquefy and flow. I have been used to running cheaper saws, Poulan, where the oil slings so much that if you had a better assortment of colors you could create a Jackson Pollack piece with it.

Just kidding about the veggie oil. I'm using petroleum bar oil...don't tell Tree Machine.

I think if you're using a tank of oil to a tank of fuel, your saw is fine. nothing to worry about.

Unless the oil output is overkill, it will take some seconds before a trace of oil on that surface becomes obvious.
Provided the oil end up on the bar & chain and isn't just dribbeling down from the saw to the ground, one tank of oil is more than enough for one tank of fuel. Normally some oil is left in the tank when the fuel is out.

The only thing that worries me a bit is that you referr to "olive oil", without stating that it is bilogical bar oil.

I suggest that you try some ordinary bar oil, and see what happens then.
