Looks like I'll need

to drill some holes in the new bar so it oils, can I put the old bar on top of the new bar, mark then drill.

are you sure the hole on the new bar isn't lining up with the oil channel on the saw? It should be lining up. You can drill the additional hole on the new bar, but be careful not to go the whole way through it. Only drill the hole on the side that will be against the oil channel on the saw. Also between outings with the saw, take the bar off and clean the chain rails out with a thin putty knife, and make sure the oiler holes in the bar are free from sawdust because they get packed shut and won't let the oil flow. I clean my bar rails and oiler holes nearly every time I take the saws to a job. Extra work for sure, but guarantees your chain gets oil.
