Hello,

Last night I discovered that a palm tree in front of my home has been infested with termites. Is there any hope of saving the tree? What can I do to kill the termites in the tree? There are several more in the back yard that I will need inspect once the rain stops. If I had to guess I would say this one is around 35+ feet tall. This tree is close to the house. How much are these palm trees worth if I had to replace it? I currently have a ton of the same (baby trees) sprouting up everywhere. One I replanted a few years ago is well over 10 feet now.

Thanks!!!

Here is a picture of the same tree about 7 years ago.

Several more of the same but healthy trees in the back of the house.

Perhaps regular bark sprays of astro or onyx will help control them but decay fungi may be a bigger problem.

I called a local pest control company that sells Termidor. They suggested I treat it by drilling into the tree about three feet up until I get resistance and inject a couple of gallons of termidor. I'm not sure how this will work since the front of the tree is pretty hallow now. I may just have to spray into this area and treat the ground around the tree. I was told the termidor would be safe for the palm tree. I still don't know if the tree will need to be cut down or if it can survive.

Dont know, your first pics didnt upload and I'm a northerner...

Nothing can be done about decay usually

Thanks. Yesterday I decided to give up on it. I cut all the branches off. Now I have to figure out how to safely cut it down.

At least I have plenty of baby palms to replace it but it will take many years to get as big.
