Speaking of "paying the dues" I happened upon a guy I worked with when I first started out the other day. Told his ground crew "Boy it sure is a pleasure to watch him work and not have to drag all his brush, do the lowering and all that" He had a nice chipper w/a winch and three guys on the ground banging it out. I remember when it was just me and him, no winch, no material handling equipment, heck even on crane take downs. We got it done cowboy style, but I'll tell ya, my body has paid the price. Now that I'm in sales I do everything I can to make sure my crew has the gear they need so they don't end up poppin' and crackin' every day. That's cost me a few jobs, but gotten me others. Of course I have to look the guys in the eye every now and again and say "Sorry boys, this one's gonna suck. Wear a truss."
