peavy hook

anyone know the history of the peavy hook or where i could find out about logging tool history. my father always told me a member of my family invented it but he never had proof of this. i do have loogers and foresters on both sides of my family and i am the only arborist thus far, but i do have a small collection of vintage forestry tools from my family members - it would be nice if i could somehow authnticate my fathers story.
