Does this look like insect damage? Strange dark holes going up the side of the trunk?Tree was planted last summer. Gets good water and full sun.

Maybe Red oak borer?
I treat all newly planted oak with imidacloprid...because 2 lined chestnut borer can be tough on stressed oaks. That would also take care of oak borer.
