We have several pines, trees and brush. Is prunning alright to do in the winter. Taking off dead dying brush and pine boughs seems okay, but to do more, I believe would be harmful to the pines.
You may prune in the winter time. As with any pruning knowing when to stop is the trick. Don't over prune your deciduous trees.
For true pines you can prune them in the spring as the stems elongate (these are called candles) simply pinch them in half to reduce growth and promote fullness.
