I was given this saw a while back got it running last weekend so I decided to clean it up a bit this weekend while I'm waiting for the new drive spur to get here. Anyway so I cleaned all the gas and oil off the exterior then I pulled the carb to clean it a bit. I just removed the top and bottom plates and made sure everything looked clean since it was running. I put everything back together and started the saw. It started fine but would stall if I let off the throttle. I shut it down put some mix in the tank and haven't been able to get it started again. It was spraying mix out of the muffler so it's getting plenty of fuel. I put in a new plug to no avail. I'm only getting 100lbs of compression. What I can see of the P/C look really good. No scoring at all. I did notice that with the muffler off I can see and hear air/fuel escaping from around the piston for the majority off the stroke.
I've never done rings before and I'm all for trying it, but wasting a bunch of money chasing the problem on an old saw that I'm not planing on using isn't in my budget. I found a set of rings for $25 on ebay but I figured I check in for advise before I get them.
Thanks...
