I have an old Pioneer 700 I have been meaning to get to for years. Feels like it has decent compression but is missing the carb. Has sediment bowl/filter and missing air filter.

anyone have spare parts (carb and filter) for this old saw? Thanks

it would be better as a running saw than a paper weight. Thx

In your case, best bet is to get an aftermarket Stihl 070/090 carb. Very little modification required and readily available. Original OMC carbs are hard to come by and then there is problem of finding diaphragms and innards.

Air filter is on Ebay but there are 2 different styles depending on your housing and cover.

Fantastic information. Thank you very much. It looks like the air supply to the carb goes through a Venturi that is actually part of the 700's handle. I can't find a schematic online so not sure if the carb will require an adapter to mount up properly. You happen to know?
The air filter is located on the left hand side of the saw and filters air through that canal into the carb. Looks there may be a clamp style portion of the handle via set screw to secure the carb.
As for the filter - I'll take a peek on eBay - it's sort of an upside down "L" shape. Or I could make something I suppose.

thanks for the tip.

This thing showed up as a parts saw with no carb, just an open void where it should be located. Nice enough to wire the reed cage to the handle though!

Yes, on the intake side there is a rubber boot to adapt it to the handle. Original setup leaks worse than a screen door on a submarine, though. Is the reed valve still present? Sounds like a parts saw is in your immediate future.

Well here is what I have to work with. Haven't checked for spark. Good compression, recoil works great and everything looks good ...... with the exception of where the carb should be. I guess I need to find 2 carb bolts too .....

Maybe I can adapt the Stihl carb to work and make a hose to run to the handle/intake.
