Hey folks, got a 395xp to port. I've done a ton of Stihls so am new to the "BIG DOGS". Does anyone have info. to share on these, maybe a build thread I've been unable to find.......or PM me if you want to keep things on the "hush".

Thanks,

Steve

Here's the specs from my notes on the 395XP.

395XP

Stock:
Compression: 160psi
Squish: .027
Ex: 101.5°
Tr: 121.5°
In: 78°

Ported:
Squish: .024
Ex: 100°
Tr: 120°
In: 83°

Notes:
Removed .035 from squish band.
Cut base to get .024 squish.
Ends up @ 210psi

It seems very mild.......but that's the way the winning saw at the 395 build off was done.

Our 395s got first, third, and fouth.

All done the same way?

Yes sir.

We were cutting 16 8" X 8" cants banded together. Being able to hold RPM in the cut was the most important aspect. So our standard woods port was what was needed.

I've found that when we have these build offs, most guys over port the saw. Torque suffers and they lose. :)

Pretty wide intake duration compared to most.

Just where the machine work took it too.
