Thank you for answering because that saves me from buying a whole new muffler. One more thing, does anybody know where to get some piston rings for a 306a.
The Homelite Super XLAO rings work well, but they're not a drop in replacement for the 5300 02577 rings, because you need to set the end gaps & notch the ends to clear the pin.

Needle files work fine, but a Dremel tool with carbide works a lot faster. Those rings are soft but brittle cast iron, not ductile. Set the gap at 0.008"
