Yet another double leader tree...

I've got a Norway spruce with a double leader at the base of the trunk. I'm going to prune off the competing leader, just not sure about the angle of the cut. I've marked two cuts - 1 and 2. Which one is correct, if either?

Thanks again for the help!

There seems to be an old callused wound above line #2. I'd cut right above it.

I see no real problem with cutting above line 2 as Guy suggests or at line 2. EIther should work out alright.

Well, I removed the competing leader. Here's the cut - look good?

Just curious - will the tree eventually envelop this wound or will it always remain a stump?

Envelop. It's hard to tell from the pics, but when you run your finger on the bark below the cut, do you feel a raised area? That's the collar.

Try for a cloerup shot.
