I have replaced the line and pick up body on an 039. I can turn the oil pump o.k. but it doesnt seem to put oil on the bar/chain like it should. Is there a way to test the oil pump? How do you take it apart to check the parts? I also replaced the plastic worm gear on the crankshaft.
thanks

I test sprocket-driven oil pumps by driving them with an electric drill spinning a rubber disc ( the back-up disc used with a sandpaper disc ). Just hold the edge of the rubber disc against the sprocket and spin away. You should get roughly double the RPM of the drill if the rubber disc diameter is twice the sprocket drum diameter. It will be high enough to pump some oil.
