Beginning to look like a starter again. Notice that a piece of copper wire has been glued in as scaffolding.

At this point, shaped and painted. A small stainless steel washer had been glued into each hole socket for reinforcement. The holes were then drilled to the desired diameter.

Finished recoil starter. Look closely and notice I did not finish the job the way you might if you want it to look fully restored, not just reconstructed: more layers of filler and then hand sanding before painting. This saw will cut wood and is not for display (although I did want it to look decent).

Love to see there are other people repairing plastic stuff. Good job.

Well, this particular one was magnesium alloy which made it a bit more difficult, with more need for strength. But the (nylon enhanced) plastic uses the same materials and is easier to finish.
