Noticed today that one of my red oaks in corner of my front yard has died.
Don't know why tree died,it turned green and had the leaves all come on it this spring.
Good thing is ,it's less than fifty feet from the area I split my wood.
Hadn't even noticed it until I sat down on front porch today,Next thing I probably should do is move truck away from it.

There's a large red oak in the city park across the street that is dying. Last time I 'turned in' a dying tree to the city, I managed to get much of the wood. I hope to do so again, but I'm not calling until September. There's another dead tree in that park too. not sure what it is, though.

Oak wilt, loves red oaks. One day it's green and nice and in 2 weeks, brown and leaves falling.

Oak wilt will give you plenty of firewood.
