I've got a sl-9 chainsaw that was given to me some time ago (my dad had bought one early 70's). It was not running at the time but all it needed was a tune-up and I've used it occasionally over the last 10 years. Went to use it few weeks back and when I pull on the start rope, it'll start turning over but then the recoil jams/bucks (after a couple of pulls, your hand is not all that happy :msp_biggrin:) - not a full pull.

I've seen some mention of decompression valve on some other small engines, does this unit have a decompression valve. appreciate if someone could enlighten me has how it works, location and what I would need to take apart/do... or any other suggestions as to what might be going on, what to look at.

thank you,
jaime
