Ridding lot of sumac

My wife talked to a potential client yesterday. This man owns the lot between he and his neighbor, and they both take care of it. About one-half of the lot is sumac, which they would love to get rid of.

What are some ideas to rid them of this?

The plants could be cut and the stumps treated, but then what is the best way to get the stmps out without ripping up the area too much?

If you use a brush hog(big weedeater with a circular saw blade) to cut the trees close to the ground, you won't need to grind the stumps. Then go back and spray each stump with Crossbow stump killer.

Thank you, Mike. I do have a blade on the "wacker" that I think will get the stems. I'll let you know how it turns out.
