Any tips for stabilizing transplanted saplings in high wind areas? I've been transplanting Douglas fir, ponderosa pine, and Rocky Mountain juniper to our treeless and very windy yard. I am concerned that the transplanted saplings will have difficulty setting roots because of the high winds we get here. Sometimes the saplings are at 45 degrees! I'm thinking of using guy lines with stakes but am worried that the rope will rub the bark where it goes around the stem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
