We own a Redwood that is located in our backyard about 15-20 feet from the house and is over 100 ft high. Before our time they poured about 300-400 sq ft of concrete as a patio, and it is now being lifted by the roots (duh). My wife and I looking to remove some or most of it as we landscape our yard. My question is that our landscape designer suggested shaving the exposed roots to make it level with the soil so we can achieve our goal, and we are wondering is this OK? Please advise.
