Re-plant 5ft Sitka Spruce

I need to transplant 10 five foot sitka spruce trees. Can I do this safely in Anchorage, Alaska this time of year. Daily temperature is 38-58 degrees. Any special care? Should I add organic material? How large need the transplant hole be?

I would first check out this arboristsite post. http://arboristsite.com/showthread.php?threadid=71 I would ad a bit of organic matter in there if there isnt any in what you are planting. The transplant hole depth is dependant on what kind of root ball you are working with. Just dont make it too deep. They are a pain to pull back out.
