How many folks stack their slabs as they are cut? I have always done this but talk to a lot of people that say I am wasting my time. I have always heard this sheds water naturally as well as sun. Anyone else do this?
Seems like a good idea to me. Nice work. Do you use a straight edge or level to make sure you’re bottom blocks on the ground are level with each other?
First of all, "slabs" are the first cuts that come off a log, that have bark on one side, what comes off after that are "flitches" if the edges have bark or "boards" if they don't.How many folks stack their slabs as they are cut? Must admit, I'm a little envious of your set up. I, unfortunately, don't have the room for a large saw mill.First of all, "slabs" are the first cuts that come off a log, that have bark on one side, what comes off after that are "flitches" if the edges have bark or "boards" if they don't.
I sometimes do put a log back together with stickers, but not often,
then only if "short", as pictured above. Longer boards get stickered in stacks like this stack of cherry going up,
