Been waiting for the snow to melt where we cut and finally happened. Went for a ATV ride all Saturday and Sunday went back and brought a bunch of saws with me.

I brought the new Makita with me, Dayton 2Z463, Homelikte SXL-925 and the Homelite 1050 Auto.

Dayton Noodle Attempt. It's funny how the older saws jam up quick but the newer ones are fine.

Great videos!

I really like the Super 1050 videos, I love the bigger saws.

Mr. HE:cool:

Nice saws! I think the Dayton sounds the baddest of the lot, but they all sound good.

I'm a big homelite fan but that Dayton certainty has the best bark of them all. I gotta give it some credit and its a real fun saw to run. It also pulls that 24" nicely but I guess it should since it's 74cc.

To be honest I wasnt to impressed with the makita after finally getting it in the wood. It felt good in the hands and in the wood, made good power for being the 1st time in the wood but to me it felt a little heavy and bulky. For a 60cc class saw it certaintly felt heavy and bulky to me. You put the dayton in 1 hand and the makita in the other and the dayton wins. I'm gonna give it a little more run time though befor I really make any decisions but it may be on the chopping block in the future.

You can always put the BB on the Kita, and gain some juice for that bulk you're feeling.

I'd personally want to run that Dayton all the time, it cuts good and sounds even better. :D

That's what I'm thinking. The Dayton power head is a little smaller and its all metal. I have a 24" on the Dayton compared to the stock 20" on the kita and is just as nicely balanced and both feel like they are identical weight. The Dayton feels less bulky in the hands though. I'm not gonna give up on it yet though. plus you get 10 extra cc with the Dayton. It's slightly slower though...how much idk. Both saws had brand new Oregon 72LGX full chisel on them.

nice videos

I like videos and the saws. I have a 925 on the bench right now that's getting all new fuel lines carb kit paint and possibly a primer. I've been thinking about the primer it seems like a good idea that 925 is bear to crank with 160 p.s.i. and it is going to get used almost every weekend so I'd like it to be easier to start. I love that 1050 that thing is a beast.

Thanks for taking the time to do this and posting the vids. I always enjoy watching old and new saws running and cutting the same wood, its the way I like to spend a day. All the saws were doing their job, I like the Dayton it reminds me of the Poulan 306A that I run for many years.

I like the dayton too ,but I think I'd like to have one of those big homies also.Nice old saws, hard to beat the vintage iron......:yourock:

Thanks for all the comments guys! You sure cannot beat that vintage iron. That Dayton sure does pull that 24" well. I think it would be a good race between an 044 if it was tuned a little more.

My XP1020 I built does feel a tad stronger then that 1050 but it's basically all new though to. I'll get some more videos of that up when I get my oilier installed on it. It outta pull the 30" bar I got coming for it effortlessly. That 1050 is certainty no slouch though and I just about got it where I want it.

After the 3rd adjustment on the 925 it was amazing the difference it made. I'm afraid to go any further with it because she is only 3/4 out on the high right now and does sound pretty good. As you could see in the 1st cut being only 1 turn out was way fat.

Cool videos. I hope you're wearing ear plugs. Those saws have quite a bark.
I'm glad that 1050 went to an AS member and you looked like you were having fun while running it.
I hope to make it to cuttinscott's GTG and I'll bring my other 1050. It's got an SDC carb. (no HS adj.) and a 30" roller-nose bar.
