Good Work

Damn good work...they should def. be shot...if they are caught...no questions asked...

Where though did you here this..and where did it happen???

...and the same with looters. There have been a few up here.

"You Loot - We Shoot"

It looks like over 100 houses destroyed in the Lake Arrowhead area and 200 or so in the Green Valley Lake / Running Springs area. Damn, that's a lot of carnage and so many lives turned upside down.

Ya...

that is a very good point...i def. agree looters should be shot on sight...first, i dont steal never have never will...but when some body as threat of there house burning down...or did burn down..how can somewhat put them selves up to stealing from them...i dont get it.

I have only heard of one sighting of looters...and they were caught quickly.

I dont even no how many thousand of homes will be burned down here...they say today was the turning point atleast here in San Diego...but still a long up battle.

Whack jobs

I don't want to be viewed as an Oregonian coming out of the closet on Californians.
But it has always amazed me how few arsons there are during the Santa Ana’s on a per capita basis.
We have a much higher percentage of nuts, sad to say.

The Japanese did try incendiary bombs to start forest fires in WWII. Let’s hope no one else figures out this concept as the forests are prime for this type of terrorism.

This is essentially a repeat of what happened four years ago. Cedar Fire, Old Fire etc.
Except that there was a significant loss of life back then, but a higher incidence of fire fighter burns this time. I don't know or have any speculation for the reasons for those items. It will be interesting to see the analysis for that later.

So Cal is essentially an unsolvable problem. In many ways.

All the Best Larry.

Maps

A couple other interesting maps:

http://activefiremaps.fs.fed.us/fireplots/cgb2007298_0300.jpg

This is an infra-red, 1 kilometer resolution map that shows the California big picture for this calendar year.

On the Legend lower right corner, hold your cursor over that icon, then go to the expand window icon and click once.

Yellow - Significant heat this year older than a couple days
Orange = Significant heat a day old about.
Red - Significant heat current.

The scattered yellow dots on flat ground are generally farmer’s field burning. The big fire north of Santa Barbara was a couple months ago. Catalina Island had a fire earlier this year too.

If you live on the North side of one of these fires and the red dots are on the North on this map. The fire is moving with lots of energy toward you. Of course you knew that already, looking out the window.

Wildland Fire Fighter Chat

http://www.wildlandfire.com/theysaid.htm

is THE site for Wildland Firefighter Chat.

A highly regulated site. One has to be very careful on their name calling techniques here.
Lots of info scattered throughout. A variety of topics on-going on this main page.
Folks from the Washington Office will occassionally post here to get the word out effectively on an important item quickly across agency boundaries.
