Splitting a Case?

Any tips on splitting a vertical split case and putting it back together go easy?

You can heat with a propane torch until its warm enough ,then use a plastic hammer on the crank end to split the case.,works ok.

Many saws have alignment pins that are meant to be driven out of place so the halves can be seperated. Best to find a service manual for the saw in question.

As Sederman says - get the service manual... all will be clear.. then you have to figure out how to get around the need for special tools. What saw are we talking about?

260, I have some nito damage to deal with and may be looking at crankcase volume at the same time.
