I can add Popple/aspen to the "ok to split green category". No sweat with x27.

I did up a few 12' bolts yesterday.

I have only ever split that dry before and that was no effort.

Pine still sucks green though. Noodle material.

I've got some siberian elm that's horrible to split. I'm using the big 480 husky to noodle it. Pinyon pine seems to split easier when using a maul if you put the root end up towards the sky.

Red Pine ---darn near impossible to split by hand when green, slightly less impossible when dry.
I had naively expected it to knock apart like dry White Pine.

Yep. That's some of the pine I am currently dealing with.

Locust - green.

Have never waited long enough to see if it gets easier.

That is all.

Splits nice and easy when dry too .. I finally made it to the pile of BL that has been sitting sitting Irene last year..the bark comes right off easy and the logs almost pop when hit. Beautiful.
