If the rim sprocket is superior, why does anyone use a spur? Which one damages chain/sprocket more if you throw a chain?

Usually, all saws for occasional user are with spur system, which is cheaper in production. Rim system has some advantages, easy to replace rim, supports chain from sideplates too, wears the bar rail less and is less prone to chain throwing.
