I was wondering if you can tell me why my blue and black hills sruce trees are turning yellow in the center of the trees. I live in a sandy area and have had very little rain but have been watering them at least once a week.

Depending on species evergreens only hold 3 to 4 years of needles, they do shed. In dry years this interior shedding can be quite noticable. However in most cases its normal. If you have any doubt, post some pictures.

I have the same yellowing near the center of the tree as well with my 6foot 1 yr transplant blue spruce. We had a very dry hot summer, but I watered them one a week.

It isn't noticeable unless your up close to the tree... from a distance you wouldn't even notice - I hope it isn't the beginning of the end for my trees.
