Stihl 038 mag

Helol I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out year of my saw. The serial is 334630805,the only thing I found was the first number means it was made in brazil.I'm new to the site have found great info, thank ya'll.

I hear that you need to email stihl with ur serial number and they may be able to help u. I don't think their serial numbers have a date code in them. I couldn't figure out the year of my 028. Do enough research and you can figure out the approximate year.

Did email stihl no reply so the research I turned up so far was it was 1980 to 93, but thank u for the help

Stihl doesn't have data on the older saws. Here's a reply I received a few months ago:

"I’m sorry to inform you that your STIHL chainsaws were manufactured (Pre-2000), and are too old to be found in STIHLS database. The STIHL Contra 06 was manufactured between 1959-1968, Contra S 06 1964-1968, STIHL 07S 1965-1968, and the 038 Magnum 1985-1997. I hope this helps and please let me know if I can be of any further assistance."

Why don't you post up a few pics of your 038 Mag? Does it have the dual or triple port muffler?

Yes that is a very big help. I will definitely post more pics I'm not sure about the muffler bit I will find that out thank u for the help

Looks like one of the later models with the plastic tank. Earlier ones had the magnesium tank. Post some pics of the other side of the muffler if you can.

It has the newer style chain brake too. The magnum had the 2 port muffler the mag 2 had the 3 port muffler they are the newer model.

Normally I would frown on trading a Husqvarna for a Stihl but in this case, you did real well.
