How would I find the pull cord size for a Stihl 050? If someone has a reference handy, I would appreciate it. Mine needs a new cord, but I'd rather not tear into it without a replacement in hand.

Can I just replace the cord, or do I need to order a complete handle assembly?

Thanks

Starter rope Ø4.5x1000mm

You can replace the cord if yours does not have the elastostart style handle which given its age it shouldn't have it. Check the metal bush where the cord enters the housing and make sure it is not worn out as this will cut the cord. If it is worn out you will need to get your Stihl dealer to replace it. If you know what you are doing you can replace them yourself but you need a special tool to do the job correctly.

Use a figure eight knot at each end of the cord

Regards

Phil
