Are they the same? Brother toasted his 3 yr old 391, dealer tore it down and then pronounced it an epa problem after acknowledging it had plenty of oil. Always heard good things about this saw, brother vows he will never buy another Stihl.

No. They are different animals. The dealer is likely correct. They come from the factory too lean.
