Hi Gents!

I recently began a MS460 build that is nearing to be completed.

But, I do prefer the first MS461 I rebuilded from a complete crankcase.

Well, let's finish the 460 and sell it, while starting this new build!

I also found an used and quite damaged 461 crankcase for cheap (45CAD), and a good used crankshaft.

I then started to order the needed parts (both used and new), and they are on their way. The tank left Australia in early May and is currently visiting the US, Chicago lastly. I'm going to use a few Farmertec parts for some time, before switching to OEM (recoil starter and some small parts).

Here are some pics of the crankcase I received (knew it was a damaged one. Will see with my dealer to engrave the serial number on the new case)

Could also any of you guys please check the serial number? It's 175749950

Last pic is my actual MS461-Z

Cheers!

Got quite a surprise today! Told myself why not try to register both 461s?
Then I went to Stihl website and entered the serial numbers.
The already build MS461 is a MS-461-Z
This one is a MS-461-RZ

Do anyone knows what the Z and the RZ stand for?

Thanks!

The to be sold 461 uses the used crankcase. It's almost complete. Is also to be fitted with wrap handle. Covers are OEM (no AM 461 filter and cylinder covers outta here), as well as a bunch of parts, like the case, MLC (this one comes from a genuine 460, with an HD-16 carb), flywheel.

Previous owner was probably a brute, with the damages this case suffers. Small chips are also missing at the rear annular buffer location, as well as the front right one. The low rear attachment of the cylinder cover is broken, as is the M4 threaded hole for the chain tensioner protection plate (this one has been repared with an helicoil). This saw is also fitted with a dual port muffler. Most AM parts are Farmertec, with the exception of the piston-cylinder kit, which are Meteor.

All in all, this saw is now in a good shape. The AM tanks (not Farmertec) that are fitted on both to be sold saws (this 461 and a 460) are a nice fit, but their two flange screws are way too short (Stihl ones are on the way).
Serial number will be erased, since it's to be transferred on the to be build new 461.

The 461 I'll keep for me is going to be full OEM, and 98% of new parts. Will use a good used crankshaft and flywheel, and dual dowgs. Made a mistake when I ordered the recoil started, ordered the one with the big handle (transferred on the 460) instead of the Elastostart. Only the tank is assembled for now, waiting patiently on the new cases to arrive at my dealer...

My two 461s will have the same configuration in the end, Stihl 20" Rollomatic bar and chain, dual pikes, same carb.
