stihl response rant

i asked stihl how many 028's had been produced. just curious. i mentioned i was restoring a points model. here was their response:
Thanks for your E-mail and your interest in STIHL products.
Please know that STIHL is a privately owned company and we do not provide production numbers. However, the 028 chainsaw was made in Va. Beach, Va. from 1979-1990.
We stopped using points in the 028 in 1983.
I hope this helps and if I can be of any further assistance, please let me know.

oh gee, thanks a lot for that, don't answer the question but appear to be helpful. sound like a lawywer or a politition ? same playbook. am i surprised, not really these days but it did get my hackles up.

Probably more so that they wouldn't care how many 028's they made a quarter of a century ago...

He seamed to give a good response , they don't give out there sales numbers to the public. There were 789,589 total 028 built in there production. Does that answer your question.
