What products do you recommend to repair stripped spark plug threads? Do they last?

I've only done one and it was for a generator. I used a timesert and it has held up well so far. The downside is they are expensive.
Buy yourself the Helicoil “Save A Thread” kit.

Take to a good machine shop if you get it slightly crooked it wont seal! Unless you think you are real good.

I have a few throwaway cylinders I can practice on. It would just suck to throw away a decent cylinder just because the plug is stripped

Yes, but I'm the kinda guy that would rather learn how to fix it himself then pay someone else to do it. I'm not talking about a rare old cylinder. I wouldn't risk something that would be difficult to replace.
Well it depends how straight you get it. Time serts are real nice.

I always get frustrated when people cheap out no offense! Why do you want cheaper when you can get better do it right! Helicoils are cheaper yes. The Time Serts are not too expensive just buy the insert and use a different installing kit I have one.What size cylinder the 200T size are a *****?
Like that yes! And then odder the right size Time Serts for extra inserts! And GV how will you know once you do a test if the cyl will hold pressure?

I will try it on a cheaper saw first. I have a Husky 136 I could make my first attempt. No big loss if I mess it up.

Yes, I will use the cylinder and run the saw. I could always use another small saw.
Nope you need to pressure test it and spray the plug with soapy water first. Lot of people dont and think they fixed it
