Thanks Redoak. Once I read your post the reason was obvious. The mental picture of the saw being pulled up with the tree and being mashed is funny, but in real life would not be so amusing. Also I had not realized the boring cut was starting at the face cut (even tho the post clearly said it was) and I can see times when that approach might be handy, but I never really feel comfortable working under a leaner and probably will not try it.
