Sweet Gum Tree Balls

Is there any method besides spraying once a year of keeping the sweet gum tree in central Illinois from producing the messy balls.

They can also be painted in bright colors and used as Chritmass tree ornaments. I hear tell that they are great for practicing your golf swing.
There is a solution...apply a liberal dose of bar and chain oil to the lower trunk of these trees...heh heh

Seriously...there are a couple products out....Arborsystems..pinscher I believe shows good results if used during consecutive years. It is systemic. No mess. First year about 70% effective and each following year the percentage increases.

So far I'm not happy with pinscher, but we shall see. I didn't even see a slight reduction the first season.
