Its amazing to see so many different terms used for the same things. Just for fun, where you from and what do you call-
1-footwear for acending a tree
2-the felling notch
3-taking down main trunk in small sections

North jersey
1-hooks
2-the box
3-blocking
 
spurrs / spikes... powerline guys use hooks

notch / pie / gob

chunking rounds... or blocking down if catching it on rope
 
Spikes or Gaffs

Notch or Face Cut

Blocking or Chunking

I'm in south central PA.
1 - spurs if using those to ascend
2 - pie
3 - chunking
