That is crazy! I guess you don't really run it long enough to worry about getting burned on the pipe?
The pipe gets pretty warm, but the 10 ply competition chaps are good insulation. The upcuts are a little different at first, I set the pistol grip against my right leg so it doesn't push me out of the wood. My saw is small, most are 250's and 300's. The water jackets are filled with bar oil that drains onto the chain during the run. The sprocket is bolted directly to the end of the crankshaft, no clutch.
