There is a Japanese maple at the new house I just bought that gets a lot of sun. It looks like the Emperor variety. I would like to transplant it to a spot that is mostly shady. Will that work ?

it will, but you might lose some of the red color. i have an emporer I in a mostly shady location and it is gradually changing to green. wait to transplant in the fall.
