Tree for Baby Alexis

My daughter wants to plant a tree in honor of the birth of her daughter. She wants a tree that will last a long time. Her husband wants something that will stay relatively small and not be messy. We are in South Dakota (Zone 4). Any ideas.

Burr oak, a native savana tree. There is a burr/swamp white hybrid that grows fast relitive to the genus about 16 in per year. They get huge when old, fun to climb too.
