Tree Identification Help?

My best guess is box elder, but a guy I worked with on this tree insisted it was Ash.
Tried to get one picture with the (wilting) leaves to help.

Box Elder is also knows as ash leaf maple.

Did you see any red staining in the heartwood?

If so it's Box Elder. See any Box Elder Bugs?

My guess is box elder.

Thanks for the replies. There was a bit of red, so I'm guessing you're right. I'm sure it will be obvious once it's split and dried out.

Box Elder. Look at second pic , click on it to magnify and you can see the red.

Here is a pic of some split box elder. When I first cut it there were a lot of red chips flying.

Definitely BE. It can go from being perfectly clear to totally red. Here's some BE noodles from last weekend.

Ash is ring porous, meaning you can see the pores in the anular rings. Must be BE, because I've never seen red white ash.
