Drys fast and burns hot. I mixed some in this year and it is working well. Won't turn my back on it.

I know one thing, it's very dry considering it came from a live tree in late spring. I don't normally get much maple around my way it came from a storm blew the top out.

I am also burning some right now. I like it, especially when temps are above 30. burns kind of fast, but i keep the splits big. great for big overnight pieces. smells like maple syrup when burning.

Lots of people rag on it but it's not bad at all.The wood you got is what you burn.

Leaves a lot of ashes. I try and avoid wood species that do that, but fortunately I have the opportunity to be picky. I took down 2 large silver maples in my yard after they dropped their leaves this year. It will be burned in my fire pit.
