I have been reading posts on this site for some time. i recently found this site:
http://www.treelink.org/

There is a forum too, with an Ask an Arborist section:
http://www.treelink.org/forum/index.php

I have to say that the information being given on that site is offensive to me as an arborist. i would say that the person responding does not take the time to answer the question but instead just makes a comment. The author has locked any ablitiy to reply to the posts.
As professionals we should be providing the best information possible to those who ask us to help. However, i am the first to recommend a specialist in that particular area or do some of my own research to provide the best answer i can.

Arboristsite is a great forum!

Welcome to the site Jizzman, why is your first post complaining about someone trying to help people? I looked at that site, I was kicked off the homeowner help part of this site (to the pleasure of many, no doubt) cause I advocated cutting down problem trees all the time. If homeowners are seroius about it they should call up an arborist and pay him/her for their knowledge, you get what you pay for, usually, and some info is better that none. As far as you being offended, stick around, you will be offended here, its all good.

I looked at the answers and thought the responses were generally ok. nOt enough detail to be of great help perhaps, but there was not much detail in the questions either.

I am not complaining about helping, but about bad advise...
u are right, you get what you pay for, but a lot of people listen to unqualified 'professionals' all the time. guess i was just expressing my anger. i have been in many situations where i try to help correct some half ass information and work that has been done.
im not really offended, just trying to use strong language to support my point.

just a random rant after a long days hard work trying to correct mistakes...

I guess i didnt like this one most:

notice the authors signature.
i think that good information should be diseminated to all.

Dan that was the only reply I saw where the product was plugged, and i think it fit the situation. Your cynicism would be better directed at the whole treelink.org site and concept. A look at the financing cost and the real benefit will not make a taxpayer happy.

jrzizman, if you have a specific recommendation to talk about, great. Random rants don't move things very far.

Roger that. sorry i wasted your time. i just think that the site is not good. a customer of mine said they read some information on there. that information was not correct and i was in there to try to fix the situation. i didnt want to point it out exactly and right now dont have the concern to. While i realize that a lot of the info on the net is incorrect and inaccurate, we as arborists should be promoting recommendations based on science not a chemical salesman. thats just my opinion, maybe you feel otherwise and i can appreciate that too.

I like the information on this site and am glad i have found it.
