Not sure if these are worth the effort of fixing. They were just given to me though. I have the bar for the 028,its just missing the air filter and back cover. I know NADDA about the 44 Husq.

What do you think guys, are they worth fixing?

Nice score as i absolutely love stihl pull the muffler and look at the piston and if its in good enough condition replace the cover and airfilter

I'm a huge Stihl fan myself. Do you know anyone with some 028 parts on this forum? It has great compression. I will check the piston and cylinder tomorrow.

if you put a wanted add in the trading post section you'll find parts no problem as 028 are very common sorry i cant be anymore help

I appreciate the advice anyway. I was very tired when I asked. Guess I had a brain fart about the trading section.
 
Triage all saws before ordering any parts
Make a complete list including all the maybe parts. The good thing is you have no initial investment so you can put some extra money in them to fix them right.
 
Both would be considered slow and underpowered by todays standards, but 028s are very durable and very common. Finding parts shouldnt be an issue. Dont know much of anything about the 44
