Where are combustion air intakes on the VC Merrimack?

  • There is primary air intake holes on the front/bottom, almost under door hinges which channel to the central "nozzle"
  • There is a secondary "flap" intake on the top that closes when temperature rises
But how does the dampener work? Where does that air come from? Which opening in the stove?

Reason for question: Stove seems to burn faster than expected.

We are in Michigan and drove to the shop, a bit north of Chicago, many years ago after several in our area closed. When we needed a catalytic element, oval to round adapter, top of the line black pipe, ceramic inner back plate, he has come through and shipped promptly. We bought our present stove there also, a VC Defiant. Good people. He carries lots of stoves and insert brands, displayed to see and touch first hand. Lots of information. He is a mason by trade, as was his father. Knows his stuff.
You can also check the shop out on the web at grassrootsenergy.com
